The members of Verse in Print—Laura Crehuet Berman, Kelda Martensen, Althea Murphy-Price, and Carrie Scanga—use distinctive and wide-ranging methods and practices, representing a verse of a shared conversation in print. Collectively, these artists embody over100 years of research and work in the print field. Each artist has been widely exhibited and collected internationally.
Laura Crehuet Berman (Kansas City) is a Spanish-American artist whose works on paper feature her visionary use of color in relation to geologic time and the natural world.
Kelda Martensen (Seattle, WA) is known for her expanded print practice and innovative works on paper that explore tactile allusions to a pre-language way of storytelling.
Althea Murphy-Price (Knoxville, TN) explores motifs of race and femininity through printed and dimensional objects that convey duplicitous functions and symbolism.
Carrie Scanga (Portland, ME) brings focus to subtle actions, quietly observed, and regenerates them into experiential printed paper installations and artist’s books.
