Megan Foster is an interdisciplinary artist and educator whose work examines the intersection of the everyday and the spectacular. Drawing from a diverse array of sourcesβincluding appropriated images, film stills, popular science, and nostalgic toys like the Lite Briteβshe constructs narratives that explore the "technological sublime" and the shifting boundaries between the natural and artificial. Her recent series, Nite Brite, utilizes landscape as a stage to reflect on altered daily rituals and virtual platforms, often incorporating materials like vinyl collage and holographic elements to evoke a sense of otherworldly atmosphere.
An accomplished printmaker, Foster earned her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and her MFA from Columbia University. She currently serves on the faculty at RISD, having previously led the Printmaking department at The City College of New York. Foster is also a co-founder of Moonlight Editions and has served as a master printer at the LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies. Her work has been exhibited internationally, with notable showings at PS1 Contemporary Art Center, the San Jose Museum of Art, and the Inside-Out Art Museum in Beijing, as well as several solo exhibitions at Black and White Gallery in Brooklyn.
