Du-Good Press is a fine art screenprinting studio and publishing house based in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood of Brooklyn. Established in 2017 by master printer Leslie Diuguid, it holds the distinction of being the first Black woman-owned fine art print shop in New York City. The press is named in honor of Diuguidβs grandfather, Dr. Lincoln I. Diuguid, who founded the Du-Good Chemical Company in the 1940sβa business built on serving a community that lacked access to critical resources. Today, Du-Good Press carries that legacy forward by prioritizing ethical production, mentorship, and the cultivation of a sustainable creative ecosystem through the democratic medium of screenprinting. The publishing arm of Du-Good Press is dedicated to artistic experimentation by putting artists directly in touch with the screen. All energy contributed to the ecology of Du-Good Press is recycled outward into collaborative relationships that positively effect the entire creative ecosystem one impression at a time.
The studio is renowned for its high-level technical precision and collaborative spirit, working closely with a diverse roster of artists to translate complex visual ideas into hand-printed editions. Du-Good Press has produced works for contemporary luminaries such as Shepard Fairey, Faith Ringgold, and Tauba Auerbach, as well as rising BIPOC artists like Hassan Rahim and Aya Brown. Beyond production, the press is deeply committed to education and visibility; Diuguidβs masterfully crafted prints are held in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Harvardβs Houghton Library. By bridging the gap between fabrication and fine art, Du-Good Press continues to redefine the role of the publisher as a vital partner in an artist's vision.
