Dan Welden is a preeminent figure in contemporary printmaking, recognized for his pioneering contributions to the medium and a career spanning over five decades. With a staggering record of 105 solo exhibitions worldwide, Welden’s practice is a multifaceted exploration of the natural world, often informed by the structural complexities of classical music. While primarily known for his master-level printmaking, his work seamlessly integrates painting and sculpture, creating a cohesive visual language that bridges traditional craftsmanship and modern abstraction.
A highly decorated artist and educator, Welden is a recent recipient of the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the A/E Foundation. His international influence is further reflected in his title as Professor Emeritus from the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Cuzco, Peru.
