WhereArt.Works presents "In Absence, Presence", an immersive solo presentation by Saudi artist Latifa AlBokhari, conceived as a majlis: the traditional Arab gathering space, open to all who arrive.  The booth is a lived-in room. Low seating upholstered in cyanotype-printed fabric, a table with sun-printed tablecloths, garments hung as if just removed. Every surface carries the trace of someone who was there.  At the center: The Hug. Two visitors receive a white pre-sensitized linen garment and embrace, pressing the fabric between their bodies. The work is durational. The longer they hold, the deeper the blue develops, the more defined the white where they were held. When they separate, the garment develops in real time at the station. Each piece is available for purchase.  Over five days, the booth accumulates. Each developed garment joins the space. By closing day it is a document of everyone who passed through. In absence, they remain.  The work draws from AlBokhari's cyanotype series, including "To Care and Be Cared For" and "I Got You and You Got Me", in which sun printing on linen captures the imprint of touch and shared time. The majlis becomes the frame: a space that makes visible what is usually invisible, the mark left by another person's presence.  This matters now because the Gulf remains underrepresented in the international art market despite a generation of artists producing rigorous, urgent work. AlBokhari offers New York a rare point of entry, intimate, embodied, and deeply rooted in place.
