RojoNegro Collective, formed by María Sosa and Noé Martínez, presents a project rooted in their ongoing exploration of ancestral memory, embodiment, and the political resonance of images. The proposal emerges from Tepalcates de sueños, their long-term collaborative process in which dreaming functions as a site of knowledge and a bridge for reconnecting fractured histories. For more than a decade, Sosa and Martínez have practiced the daily act of recording and sharing their dreams. This sustained exchange has generated an intimate archive that traces continuities between their respective lineages and the present. For the artists, the dream world does not interrupt waking time but extends it, allowing relationships with the natural world, with ancestors, and with historical narratives outside dominant frameworks to remain active. The imagery that emerges includes mediating animals, symbolically charged plants, geological formations, and recurring familial presences that form a shared visual vocabulary. The project brings together a series of paintings drawn directly from this archive. Each work is scaled to the height of the artists’ bodies and includes, on its reverse, the transcription of the dream that inspired it. This gesture underscores the relationship between image, memory, and corporeality. Many of the visions echo motifs found in historical codices, which the collective approaches as living references that continue to shape the present. Through this constellation of works, RojoNegro positions dreaming as a critical and generative method, a space where time, body, and image converge to offer forms of continuity that persist despite histories of rupture.
