mimo and Hidrante are pleased to proposed a joint booth with works by Esmelyn Miranda and Margarita Vincenty. In their practice, both Miranda and Vincenty appropriate forgotten materials that become fragments of social, political, and ecological stories of their countries. Esmelyn Miranda's practice is rooted in communal support as a means of survival. Through peers, friends, and neighbors, Miranda collects vintage exhibition posters, printed to promote institutional exhibitions in Venezuela. As these posters and the museums where they come from, lose their reputation and value, Miranda choses to revive them by printing geometric compositions over them. Vincenty collects plastic waste, wood, and discarded objects, reinterpreting them through abstract compositions that allude to the life cycle of matter and its capacity for regeneration. Her practice explores the ecological and poetic dimension of the act of collecting and transforming.
