The renowned sculptor and installation artist Nancy Rubins will join PHA President Eric Shiner and The Brooklyn Rail’s Phong Bui to celebrate the upcoming publication of Rubins’ monograph.

This two-day master class will take place on March 15th and 16th from 10am – 5pm (with a one-hour break). On both days, Moon will share his philosophy for throwing large jars and functional wares, as well as provide demonstrations and offer chances to do hands-on work.

This two-hour demonstration will take place on March 16th from 6pm – 8pm. Moon will share his philosophy for throwing large jars and functional wares demonstrating Korean techniques such as throwing clockwise and stretching cylinders to make large expansive forms.

gowanus community action event

Co-hosted by Powerhouse Arts and Voice of Gowanus, join us on Wednesday, March 20 at 6pm for a screening of the documentary The Clash followed by a panel discussion between The Clash director Benjamin Heim Shepard, editors of the Disruptive Engagement handbook, and members of Voice of Gowanus about local activism and issues impacting our Gowanus community.

The Gowanus community will gather for the unveiling of Mucky’s Return, a new public sculpture by artist and filmmaker Jeff Gipe that honors the legacy of a dolphin that swam into the polluted waters of the Gowanus Canal in 2013.
