Lido Pimienta Performance
Apr 29, 2026 6:00 PM
Grand Hall

Lido Pimienta will contribute a special musical performance for CONDUCTOR’s VIP Opening Night. Presented here in a rare a cappella performance, Pimienta strips her work to its most essential element: the voice. In doing so, she offers an intimate and powerful expression of the themes that define both her practice and CONDUCTOR itself: presence, resistance, and the reimagining of global cultural narratives.
About this performance, Pimenta writes:
"I aim for the audience to have a moment of peace, meditation and light. In times of darkness, us artists hold hope."
Artist bio:
Lido Pimienta is an Afro Wayuu Colombian-Canadian multidisciplinary artist-curator, with a focus on textiles, ceramics, music and performance. Pimienta’s work explores and considers the politics of gender, race, motherhood in the construct of the Canadian and North American landscape through a Caribbean diaspora and vernacular lens. Her practice revolves around community, collaboration and the sharing of ancestral art techniques, her stories and knowledge.
She was awarded a Polaris Prize for her 2017 album La Papessa which was released upon much critical acclaim. In 2020, Pimienta released her breakthrough album Miss Colombia on Anti- Records which was a tribute to her home country and its people. Miss Colombia received praise from The New York Times, NPR, Pitchfork and Remezcla, and was nominated for 2021 GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY awards. Also in 2021, Pimienta became the first woman of color to compose a piece of music for The New York City Ballet, a collaboration with choreographer Andrea Miller. In 2022 LIDO TV debuted, a sketch comedy show with guest appearances from Kittie and Nelly Furtado. Additionally, Lido Pimienta is cited as an A&R for Furtado’s latest album.
