Description

In this class, we’ll get into the practical side of taking care of your work: how to store it, how to handle it, what actually causes damage, and what you can do to prevent it. We’ll also talk through real-world scenarios and questions—so feel free to bring your own work, concerns, or curiosity.

MGC Members receive a 25% discount toward registration, and non-members receive 4 hours of additional studio time outside of class. Class fee includes materials.

Saturday, May 2 11:00am–2:00pm (3 hrs)

Instructor

Cynthia Schwarz

Cynthia Schwarz is a painting conservator with over 20 years of experience working with museum collections. She started out as a painter (BFA, RISD), spent time making portraits and murals, and then shifted into conservation, earning her MS from the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation. She now runs Take Care Conservation, a studio focused on the care and treatment of modern and contemporary artworks. Her work often deals with complex, hands-on treatments of paintings on canvas—so she’s seen just about everything that can go wrong (and how to fix it).
