Description

In this one-day workshop we will distill a memory into a mini-comic, using a single sheet/ 8-panel format. Students will dive into the unique language of comics, combining imagery, text, and sequence to create a short comic based on their lived experience. We will learn evocative and sensory storytelling techniques, exploring memories as sights, sounds, feelings, and moods. The results will range from poetic to memoir, and students will leave with a finished mini-comic and new storytelling skills they can apply to any future project.

This workshop is a good introduction for those curious about making comics.

No comics or drawing experience necessary. Materials are provided.
