In celebration of Powerhouse Arts' upcoming exhibition, Masterpieces: A Virtual Experience of the Museo del Prado, participants are invited to explore stained glass as an artistic medium. With support from Stained Glass Studio founders Bryane and Jenny Fleming, attendees will learn the fundamentals of stained glass techniques while creating their own glass artwork inspired by the masterpieces featured in the exhibition. Throughout the workshop, Bryane and Jenny will share the apprenticeship relationship that led to the founding of their Brooklyn studio and how the stained glass techniques are preserved in Brooklyn.
Drop in anytime to make artwork for yourself, friends, or family. All ages are welcome and encouraged to create with us.
Art Where You Are is a seasonal outreach program that brings free, accessible art-making pop-ups directly into neighborhoods across Gowanus and Brooklyn. The program meets community members where they live and gather — in NYCHA housing developments, public parks, plazas, and local businesses — providing hands-on creative experiences for individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

Art Where You Are: Creating Emerging Worlds at Abolitionist Place
Participants are invited to create their own paper world inspired by Masterpieces: A Virtual Experience of the Museo del Prado's immersive themes. With support from Powerhouse Arts staff, attendees will craft either a pop-up paper scene that recreates the feeling of moving through virtual space or that captures the sensation of stepping inside a painting. Through folding, layering, and storytelling, participants will experiment with paper engineering to bring imagined masterpieces to life.
PHA Artist Salon: Jean Shin
PHA Advocates members and above ($1,500+) are invited to an intimate salon-style reception with artist Jean Shin and PHA Printshop Director Luther Davis. Hosted in the PHA Printshop, the evening will feature an in-depth conversation about their creative process and collaboration on Tidal Reflections, the inaugural PHA Benefit Collector Edition.

Art Where You Are: NYCHA Gowanus Houses
In celebration of Powerhouse Arts’ first major public exhibition, The Ark, we invite our neighbors to join us at the NYCHA Gowanus Houses picnic area along Hoyt St. to create animal puppets! Using repurposed materials and everyday objects, participants will explore how to design and animate expressive puppets through hands-on making and play.
Anchoring Sight: Figure Drawing with Kiara Ocasio
Strengthen the connection between observation and gesture in live model figure drawing, through this session led and guided by an instructor.
Unfolding: Zines and Artists’ Books with Juliana Maurer
Discover conceptual and physical forms ofunfolding, spinning, and expanding through zine and book-making, working withauto-ethnographic journaling, photography, or drawing.
The Ark pop-up at the PHA Store
Our onsite retail space currently features a pop-up of exhibition-related products and artworks made by staff and studio members, with the majority of proceeds going to the artists themselves. You’ll find everything from prints and sculptures to pillows and wallpaper.
