Delivery Dancer Codex

project overview
The Powerhouse Arts Public Art team fabricated sculptural and technical components for Ayoung Kim's 'Delivery Dancer Codex' at MoMA PS1. The exhibition marked the US debut of Kim's renowned Delivery Dancer trilogy, featuring video installations that use generative AI, videogame engines, and live-action footage to examine labor within the gig economy.
Public Art provided comprehensive design and fabrication services, creating 3D models and detailed shop drawings for all components. We fabricated a 78.66-inch-tall steel sundial sculpture with laser-cut components, all powder-coated matte black. For the projection installations, we engineered and built a 71-inch-diameter black ring screen with translucent, flame-resistant material; a massive 227.3" x 127.72" 3-channel Jumbotron with black T-slot aluminum framing and rigging hardware; and a 240" x 135" B-Gallery screen. All projection screens featured custom-sewn projection fabrics and custom-fabricated aluminum frames with integrated rigging systems.
Our installation team assembled and installed all components at PS1, and will provide deinstallation services at the close of the exhibition.
